Game Ready & the NOPAIN Act

CMS lists the Game Ready® GRPro 2.1 System (HCPCS C9817) as a qualifying non-opioid treatment for separate Medicare payment in hospital outpatient departments and ambulatory surgical centers, effective January 1, 2026.

Payment depends on Medicare coverage, eligibility, documentation, and billing requirements; it is not automatic or guaranteed. This facility payment policy does not establish coverage for a home rental.

The provision was enacted in December 2022 as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023. The separate-payment program began in 2025 and is currently scheduled through December 31, 2027. Information checked October 12, 2026.
